Donna Risel

Donna Lorene Riesel, beloved sister, mother, grandmother and dear friend, 71, of Laurie, MO entered into eternal rest March 30, 2009 at the Kansas City Hospice House.  Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life gathering will be held from 2:00–4:00 p.m., Saturday April 11, 2009 at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie.  Burial of the ashes will be in Garber Memorial Gardens.  Donna was born August 3, 1937 in Macomb, IL to the late Russell and Minnie (Dorethy) Long.  In 1954 she married Sgt. Jerald Pendell in Macomb and he preceded her in death in 1962.  In 1981 she married Hugo “Bud” Riesel in Sedalia, MO and he preceded her in death in 2004.  Donna is survived by her son Jerald Pendell and his wife Cheryl of Kansas City, daughters, Teri Moore and her husband Stephen of Boonville, MO, Tamra Crouch of Warrensburg, MO, Susan Pendell-Holmes and her husband Michael of Columbia, MO and Shelley Callis-Grubbs of Union, MO.  Other survivors include step-daughters, Penny Wilkinson and her husband Phillip of Laurie, Robin Naeger and her husband Scott of St. Genevieve, MO, her sister Dorethy Schewigert and her husband George of Laurie, MO as well as 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.  Donna is also preceded in death by a step-daughter Catherine Helms and two grandchildren.  Donna and her husband Bud managed the Silver Sands Resort & Marina at the Lake of the Ozarks for twenty years retiring in 2004.  She enjoyed various activities & charity work but what she enjoyed most was traveling and spending time with her family & friends.  Memorials are requested to the Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145-1117.

    To all of Donna’s Family. We are so sorry for your loss. The short time I have known Donna, while helping Bitty sell the house, has meant a lot to me. She was a special person, and so caring. Garry and I still can’t believe she is gone, and we are praying for all of you.
