Glenn Edward ?Ed? Whitney of Kansas City, KS, passed away April 7, 2007, at Specialty Hospital of Mid America in Overland Park, KS. He was 62. Glenn, or ?Ed? as he was known by family & friends, was born May 29, 1944, in Greensburg, KS. In 1964 he married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Kay (Johnson) Whitney of Cleves, OH, of whom he is survived. They divorced approximately seven years ago but remained friends ?til the end.
Ed was preceded in death by both parents: Lee Taylor Whitney I, and Bonnie Maxine Lindsay (Whitney) Crawford. He is survived by three daughters: Cynthia Marie ?Cindy? Wood & husband Craig of Guilford, IN, Kelly Renee Craig & Husband Jeff of Lawrenceburg, IN, and Melissa Ann Engel and husband Jimmy of Cincinnati, OH, and six grandchildren: Ashley Marie & Kyle Robert Craig, Whitney Catherine, Blake Andrew & Bryce Alexander Wood, and Kendal Grace Engel. He is also survived by older brother Victor ?Vic? Whitney & wife Carolyn of Kansas City, KS, older sister Charlene Madden & husband George of Parkville, MO, younger sister Crystal Painter of Alpharetta, GA, younger sister Sherry Skinner of Jamesport, MO, and youngest sister Patricia ?Trish? Whitney of Kansas City, MO, eleven nieces & nephews and twenty great nieces & nephews.
In high school, Ed had a horse named ?Don?, played basketball for Piper High School and hung out with friends and his big brother Vic. Ed was artistic, enjoyed shooting pool and playing his guitar. It has been said that he was born with a wrench in his hand as he Loved anything with an engine. At his time of death he had nearly completed the restoration of his ?baby?, a 1938 Oldsmobile Opera Coupe which was his pride & joy.
Ed had specifically requested that there be NO memorial or funeral services, so please bid him farewell in your heart.
