John Sanders

John Richard Sanders, Ph. D., 55, of Riverside, MO passed away Saturday, April 26, 2003 at North Kansas City Hospital. Visitation services will be held at the Sanders’ home from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 29, 2003. A memorial service will be held in the Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel, 8700 NW River Park Drive, Parkville, MO, Wednesday, April 30 at 11:00 AM. Born in Tulsa, OK, John received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas in 1969 and received a Ph. D. from the University of Mississippi in 1987. John spent his life as an educator, a published researcher and respected chemist. His passion for education led him to serve as Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Associate Professor of Chemistry at Park Univresity, where he was first employed in 1993. John is survived by his mother, Margaret Sanders of Florence, AL; his wife, Carol Sanders of Riverside, MO; and son, Richard of Renton, WA. John also leaves behind his sister, Patty Ferry of Florence, AL and four grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Park University for the John R. Sanders Scholarship Fund.
