LaVerne Faye Smith Sturman was born in Camden, MO on March 24, 1930 to Maurice and Mary Smith. She grew up in Missouri with 3 sisters, and graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1947. In 1950 she married Melvin Sturman and together raised 7 children. She retired from the Department of Agriculture in 1990. Mrs. Sturman passed away at her home om May 23rd at the age of 79. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred; daughter, Brenda Schick; and husband Melvin. She is survived by two sisters, Mary Irene and Marjorie; daughters and their husbands, Sheila and Duane Seager, Cheryl and Gerardo Forresvalle, Denise Stephens and Ron Smith; daughter, Sylvia Nitsetakenia; sons and their wives David Sr. and Keilee Sturman, Daniel and Laura Sturman; and sons in law Dennis Schick and James Bartholome. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be hald on Friday, May 29th at 6:30 PM at Centropolis Community Church, 8001 N Oak Trafficway in Kansas City, MO. Pastor Nite will be officiating. Faye’s final resting place will be at Higginsville Veteran’s Cemetery. Rememberances may be sent to 17401 E. 21st N. Independence, MO 64058.
