Lambert Stewart

Lambert L. Stewart, 83, Overland Park, KS, passed away Friday, October 8, 2004, at home following a long struggle with heart disease. Cremation. A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2004, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 8300 W. 79th St., Overland Park, KS. Bert was born September 4, 1921. He was a Motor Machinist’s Mate in the U.S. Navy over three years, serving on a number of ships including LCT 159 when it landed material, often under fire, at Guadalcanal, Munda, Okinawa, Iwo Jima and Bougainville in the Solomon Islands, before proceeding on to the Russell Islands in the South Pacific campaign. Following the War, Bert was employed by Santa Fe Railroad for 37 years. A loving husband of 62 years, Bert was a devoted grandfather and loyal friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, a sister, son, Larry and daughter, Pamela. Bert is survived by wife, Corwina of the home; grandson, Robert L. Stevens; granddaughter, Tamela Cook and her husband, Jerry; granddaughter, Angela Penninger and her husband, Charles; and five great-grandchildren. In 1976 Bert dedicated his life to his Heavenly Father Jehovah God, vowing to serve Him unreservedly as s Christian Witness.
