Linden Panknin, Jr.

Linden Panknin Jr. succumbed to the ravages of disease and age on September 18th in the latter part of his eighty sixth year. He was married to Janice for more than sixty six years, when she passed away in December of 2008. His health had declined since December of 2009. Linden and Janice’s marriage produced two children: Michael, and Gina. They had five grandchildren: Andrew, Kelly, Alicia, David, and Brian. They had eight great grandchildren: Gunner, Oscar, Seth, Jack, Naomi, Ann, Gabriel, and Caroline. Linden started his career as a bricklayer and retained membership in his union all his life. He and his partner, Edward Roos, started a construction company, Roos Masonry that persisted until their retirement. He was a veteran of World War Two, where he served in the Pacific Theater on a PT Boat. Linden was an active Freemason for more than fifty years, he was a Shriner, and along with his wife, Janice enjoyed square dancing for several decades. He and his wife toured the country in a series of RV’s after retirement. He was an inventive man that saw few challenges that couldn’t be met by his mechanical ingenuity. After his wife passed away, he turned more to his spiritual life and joined the Ascension Lutheran Church where he enjoyed Sunday services and companionship. Services for Linden will be held at the church at 11 AM on Wednesday September 22, 2010. A visitation will precede the Service and begin at 10 AM. Linden’s passing leaves a void in all the lives he touched.
