Flint McRoberts, 95, of Columbia passed away August 6, 2010 at Lenoir Woods. A memorial service will be held at the Epple Chapel on grounds of Lenoir Retirement Community on Saturday, August 14th at 10:00AM. A private burial will be held at the Forrest Grove Cemetery in Canton, Missouri. He was born on March 23, 1915 on the family farm near Monticello to Arch and Ethel McRoberts. Flint was a graduate of the University of Missouri receiving a PhD in animal nutrition in 1943. Following graduation, he entered the United States Army. He received a honorable discharge in August 1946 at the rank of Captain. Flint and Mary Caroline Trapp were married in St. Louis on August 2, 1941. Flint operated the family farm near Monticello for 35 years. He was known for his innovation of and experimentation with new farming techniques. Flint is survived by Mary, his wife of 69 years. Also surviving are a sister, Jean Wood and husband Clark of Canton, MO; a daughter, Jean Gran and husband Bill of Heath, MA; a son, Jim and wife Mimi of Columbia; three grandchildren, Laura Renko and husband Thomas of Austin, TX; Jon McRoberts of Lubbock, TX and Lucinda McRoberts of St. Louis, MO; a nephew, John Wood and wife Nan of Monticello, MO; a niece, Susan Kriegel of Grinnell, IA and six great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Louis Welborn, and a nephew Steve Kriegel.

    Of course I am sorry to see that Flint passed away. I feel privileged to have known him (even though only in a limited way) and it was apparent that he was an outstanding person. I always loved his name and thought it was a great name. Certainly it is difficult to lose a parent at any time, and I extend my sympathy to all.

    flint,was a great man with a loving personality..i will truly miss him and his kind words he gave me everyday at supper time…ur gone but never forgotten
