Gloria Bartholomew

GLoria Lee Bartholomew, 81, Kansas City, MO, passed away March 3, 2004. Cremation. Gloria was born June 6, 1922 in Norton, KS. GLoria was the first child of Raymond E. and Leora Kuchera Ambrose. Eighteen months later, she was joined by her brother Richard. SHe was the apple of her father’s eye and she adored her brother. Gloria learned much from her mother, including her insatiable passion for learning, appreciation of music and art and deep sense of obligation to the community. Gloria married Harold Bartholomew, July 15, 1942. Their marriage produced three sons and lasted 30 years. Gloria entered a new chapter of life in 1974 when she became a working woman. She was a business manager of G.J. Mauger Interiors of St. Louis, retiring in 1987. In retirement, Gloria moved to Green Valley, AZ, living there 10 years enjoying the desert landscape and being close to her brother, R.R. Ambrose, Tuscon, AZ. Gloria moved to Kansas City, MO in October of 1997, residing at the Locarno Apts, overlooking her beloved Plaza. She is survived by her brother, 3 sons, Richard, Mountain View, CA, Paul, St. Louis, MO and Tarry, Kansas City, MO; granddaughters, Brooke Sauder and Beth Niednagel; great-grandchildren, Sutton, Caleb and Rebekah. Gloria could light up a room with her personality. She possessed a great sense of humor and humility. Her beautiful blue eyes displayed an impish sparkle as though enjoying a private joke to the end.
