Vickie L. Diehl (Bangs), 59, lost her long battle with cancer on June 11, 2011, in her home, to go to a better home with God.  Her wishes were for cremation and no formal visitation or funeral.  A memorial evening of art was held at PS Gallery in downtown Columbia.

She left in this world her husband of 30 years, John K. Bangs, daughters Ashley and Amy, and 6 brothers and sisters.  She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Madeline and Kermit Diehl.

Her creativity and artistic nature will be greatly missed along with her humor and joy.  Vickie was a wonderful mother, wife, sister, and friend and will be greatly missed.

    John, Ashley, and Amy, We were so sorry to learn of the loss of your wife and mother. She always had a smile on her face whenever Nicole stayed overnight with you guys or when I ran into her at Apple School during pickup or drop off.     John and girls… I know the emptiness is there for all of you with her passing, but also knowing she is at peace is a blessing. My prayers to all of you for God’s healing. I’ll miss hearing her humor and laughter. She was one of very few that could share my “odd” sense of humor…her’s was the best!

    John, Ashley, & Amy…We just found out about your loss of Vickie. We are so sorry to hear this.
    We have know you all for so long, and want you to know that though we are seperated by miles, our thoughts are with you and we hope your loss will be somehow soothed knowing that her battle is over.
    Vickie had one of the greatest senses of humor and we will remember her on top of her “game!”

    Vicki was part of a “breakfast club” on Ridgefield Road many years ago. I have lost touch over the years, and am so very sorry to hear of your loss. She was a wonderful mother and wife and friend.
