Candace Lynn Hawkes 55 of Columbia, died at her home on Wednesday December 9, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2015 at New Life Christian Church, 1300 Blue Ridge Blvd., Columbia, MO 65202. Candace was born November 11, 1960 in Boonville to Leonard and Marsha Hawkes She decided what she wanted to do with her life at a very young age and stuck with it throughout her entire life. She graduated from Central Missouri University in Warrensburg with a Bachelor’s degree, then went on to obtain her Masters in Social Work from the University of Missouri, becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Candace worked in Warrensburg for many years helping Veterans and others with numerous mental health issues. She persevered in her career, not allowing any obstacle to take her eyes off her inner goal which was to help people. She never let a job, a corporation or bureaucracy interfere with her providing excellent patient care. Of all the things Candace achieved in her life, the thing she was most proud of were her boys Todd and Tony and her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents. She is survived by her sons, Todd Hawkes (Lindsey) and Tony Conway (Danielle) of Columbia and 5 grandchildren. Her mother, Marsha Davis of Fayette, a brother, Brett Hawkes (Sharryn) of Bonnots Mill, a sister, Stacey Hawkes of Jefferson City, a brother, Tony Hawkes (Bobbie) of Owens Cross Road Alabama, and a brother, Jeff Davis (Heather) of Fayette, several neices and nephews and her beloved dog Puggie.
Candace will truly be missed, A blessing to have known you for many years. Tony and Todd along with the rest of the family my prayers and thoughts are with you.

I’m at lost for words right now, Candy took me in and made me a part of her family. I was her son and she was my mom. I’ll be praying for my brothers Todd and Tony and the rest of the family, love you all!! Mom you will be missed!!!
My sympathy to Candace’s family! So sad to hear of her passing! I always enjoyed my contacts with her whether it was at a meeting or a phone call when she would do whatever she could to help patients and their families! Her spirit and sense of humor will be missed and not forgotten! Nor her smile! Y’all hang in there!!

Dear Mrs. Davis, I am deeply pained to hear about Candy. She conntacted me latley, and we had some very long endearing talks. The sound of her voice was beautiful. She was a VERY determined, and couragous person. My life will be better, because of Candy. She had a pic. you took of us, together, on Lilac Hill, it was special to her. May God’s grace be with you. Candy was just beautiful.
So sorry to hear this and condolescences to the family. Candace had a good heart and will be missed by many, prayers to the family!

I am so sorry to learn of Candace’s death. It grieves me deeply and my heartfelt sympathies go out to her family. I had the privilege and honor of working with Candace for several years. I loved her wit, her tenacity and above all, her dedication. Candace, you made a difference and you WILL be missed!
Candace had a grit and tenacity that was truly inspiring. Her dedication to her patients was impeccable and her ability to find the positive in difficult situations is something I will always remember about Candace. My prayers are with all her family.

Dear friend so sorry we didn’t see each other more, amazing how time slips away! Memories never will! I have lots of them, so many i often talk of them, there were hard times but we made it through! I was a co-worker with Candace and I am so sorry to hear the news. Candace and I shared many conversations at work and after we both moved to different career paths. She will be missed by many, including me. She had a smile that lit up the room and she was a positive person to know.
