Anthony Arden Day

Anthony Arden Day, 55, of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2022 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Anthony was the first of three children to Ronald and Sharon Day, born July 21,1966, in Tacoma, Washington.  Baptized June 21, 1986.

After graduating from Truman High School in 1984, Anthony worked at Kmart 4217, Allis-Chalmers, ADCO, Hardees, Pizza Hut, Sonic, Schwan’s Recovery Sales Outlet, Hickory Farms, Kohls Warehouse. Anthony was a Tupperware and Taste of Home Consultant.

Anthony was a former member of Parents without Partners and current GKCAS Bird Club member, where he served as president for several years. Anthony was the PTA president of Sycamore Hills Elementary School and was chosen as volunteer of the year. He was also nominated as Optimist businessman of the year.

Anthony inherited a love of birds and all animals from his father and love of plants and flowers from his mother which he passed down to his five children. His passion for birds led the family on countless memorable road trips to bird fairs and bird shows across the Midwest. Anthony had a zest for life which he displayed by dressing up in costumes for holidays, even during three years on dialysis and while visiting (at appropriate social distancing) with family/friends during COVID shut down. Anthony inspired others with his passion for life and optimistic outlook even on difficult days.

Anthony was predeceased in death by his father and mother, Ronald and Sharon Day.

He is survived by his, Life Partner, Shelia Terry and their 2 children, Joe Day (fiancé Lyndsy Strouse), Independence, and Sheleena Day, Independence; former spouse, Jeanette and their three children Amber (Pete) Dahl, Basehor, Kansas, Jonathan Day, Blue Springs and Beth Day, Independence; sisters: Cynthia (Steve) Jones, Independence, Carmon Day (Sharon Hayes), Independence, and nieces, nephews and longtime friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been set up to purchase a memorial bench to be placed in Waterfall Park (Bass Pro, Independence, Missouri) where everyone can go and enjoy the beauty and reflections of Anthony. Contributions for the memorial can be made here: Memorial for Anthony Day  Family will be having a private celebration of life ceremony in lieu of funeral services.
