Elizabeth “Elee” Nicholas

Elizabeth “Elee” Yvonne Nicholas was born on August 12, 2008 and peacefully passed away on July 30,  2022. While recovering from a non-accidental traumatic brain injury, Elee joined the Nicholas family on  November 3, 2008 exactly one year before her baby sister and became the second of the “chosen  children” in the family on her “Gotcha Day” May 20, 2011.

Though Elee was non-verbal, she would still communicate her preferences with facial expressions,  vocalizations and body language. She will be remembered for her smile, joyful energy, family time, love  of music, tickles, and nibbling on her toes. The donation of her kidneys saved the lives of two Midwestern women, one of whom was her home nurse.

She is survived by her parents Edward and Teree Nicholas, brother Charles Nicholas and sisters  Emmadeen and Lucille Nicholas.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Grace Church  8500 W. 159th St., Overland Park, KS 66223. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM and following  service until 2:00 PM.

Elee was in my kindergarten class at Santa Fe Trail. I will always remember how much she loved circle time and all of the songs we sang. She was loved by her kindergarten peers and had some favorite friends. When she heard their voices her face would really light up. She was adored by her fabulous para, Ms Betty, who would be sad to learn of Elle’s passing. I remember feeling a positive energy from the sweet, little girl she was in kindergarten and I’m sure that everyone who knew her throughout her life, felt the same thing. She will be missed.

I am so grateful to have spent several years with Elee in my classroom. She lite up the room with her smile and laugh. She could turn anybody’s sour mood around with her giggle. I will always remember her “bird calls” and how amusing they were to her and everyone else. I know she will be missed by family many friends.
