Victor (Vic) Nelson

Victor (Vic) L. Nelson, 62, passed away September 18, 2022, at his home from a long battle with cancer. His celebration of life open house will be held on October 8 the at Cosmo Community Center in Columbia,
MO from 2 to 6 PM. If you are unable to attend, please smile and raise a glass in his honor. Vic was born October 27, 1959, in Des Moines, IA. to Vernon and Patricia (Gilman) Nelson. He attended Hoover High School and Northeast MO State University, where he met the love of his life. They were married in 1980 and enjoyed a wonderful life together for 42 years. As a telecommunication technician for 42 years in the Airforce, and for Sprint and CenturyLink (Lumen), Vic lived in Omaha, NE, Mt. Vernon, IA and Greenwood, MO. Vic enjoyed bowling, golf, traveling, cruising, football, baseball, but his greatest joy was being around his family and friends who describe him as always being upbeat and positive, quick with a joke and a laugh. Vic loved having his children, his family, his friends, their friends, but especially his grandchildren, at his house or traveling with him for vacations. He will be missed by so many and loved by all. He adored being “papa” to his 5 wonderful grandchildren.
Vic is survived by his mother, Patricia Greenwell, his beloved wife, Sandi (Buehrig) Nelson; his wonderful
children, Christina (Robert) Muller, Robert (Aerica) Nelson; adored Grandchildren, Donovan and Lukan
Nelson, Isaac, Gabe and Thomas Muller; his brothers, Jerry (Barb) Greenwell, Richard (Cindy) Greenwell,
Jon (Shelly) Greenwell; Mother-in-law, Shirley Buehrig, Brothers-in-law, James Jr. (Nanc) Buehrig and
Steve (Tina) Buehrig; Sisters -in-law, Linda (Mark) Camacho and Diana Miller. Numerous aunts, uncles,
cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-greats.
Vic was preceded in death by his father, Vernon; his stepfather, Jerry Greenwell; Sr.; his sisters, Lynn
Ann and Dixie Greenwell; his father-in-law, James Buehrig Sr. and brother-in-law, Mike Miller.
