Edward Abell, 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, February 7, 2023 at his grandson’s home.
Born in Kansas City, Kansas, he was the son of Elmer Abell and Emma Martz. He started farming as a child and continued his father’s farm after he died. He then worked at Deffenbaugh for 15 years as a manager. After that he started his own business in Parker, Kansas called Parker Salvage and worked in that line for work for years. His partner, Florence Goodson, lived together for years and helped raise her 5 children and most of her grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, the outdoors, and western movies. His favorite westerns were John Wayne movies and he could watch them over and over again. He will be remembered for being a loving and caring father, grandpa, great grandpa, uncle, and brother. He was the best positive role model that we all looked up to and we will cherish all the life lessons he taught us.
He survived by Elma Newton, Donny, Laura, Diane, Suzanne, Mark (Joy), Jason, Heather (Tommy ll), Denny (Cori), Hollis, Bryan (Beth), Stacy (Ryan), Miranda (Cory), Isiah, Tommy lll, Zachary, Zaida, Abbey, Emerson, Ethan, Anthony, Sophia, Autumn, Serenity, Octavia, Gian, Chloe, Kaylee. He was predeceased by Ellen, Elsie, 5 other siblings and David.
The funeral service will be held at Jackson County Shrine Club on February 19, 2023 at 4pm at 120 S Pleasant St. Independence, MO 64050. He will be cremated at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society in Raytown, MO and then his family will plant a tree with his ashes on his land in the country.
He loved sitting under a shady tree in the country while the wind blew by under a clear blue sky. He will always be in our hearts and with us through each day until we meet again.
