Ivan Herbert Hanson, 88, passed away February 22, 2023, in Overland Park, Kansas at home with his wife Mary Jo and son Lance near his side. He lived the majority of his life in the Overland Park area. “Big Ive”, as his friends & family called him, was very much devoted to the care of his family.
Born in KCMO, he attended Wyandotte High School and was later in the Army and Reserves. Subsequently he continued his education in electronics and ended up working in a variety of mechanical inspection rolls and eventually quality control management. Ivan was a quiet man with a sharp sense of humor. He was also a great husband and dad. His caring nature was established over the years as he first took over the care for his own father Ivan Sr, during the last six years of his life. And then later, did the same for his uncle Murel.
Ivan was preceded in death by his mother Verona, his father Ivan, and his sisters Betty and Jeanette.
Survivors include his wife Mary Jo and son Lance.
To Mary Jo and Lance, so sorry for the loss of your husband and father. I can tell from the obituary, what a devoted kind person he was.
Love, Betsy Miller
Mary Jo and Lance: Remember I am here for you in this grief process. So glad Bernie and I and Mary Jo and Ivan got to know each other so many years ago at ERC. Lance it’s been many years ago since I saw you but hear from your Mother just how helpful you are being. God bless you both. The pain never goes away but it does change.
Mary Jo and Lance: Please know you have Ron and my heartfelt sympathy upon Ivan’s passing. He was a good thoughtful man and it was time for him to have a peaceful rest. You two did such a good job of taking care of him in his last months. Bless you both.
Mary Jo and Lance, so sorry to hear of Ivan passing away. Will keep you in our prayers. Fond memories always.
