Michael O. Gregory, 28, of Independence, MO passed away March 7, 2023. Gregory was born January 21, 1995 in Independence, MO.
Michael was that person who filled up a room when he was in it. From his loud voice, crazy stories, and his obnoxious laugh. He loved just being in the center of what was going on. He never knew a stranger. He would smile and talk to everyone around him. He had a fun personality that just drew people to him. He loved being the life of the party. He loved his family and friends. He loved HARD, meaning if he ever told you he loved you he meant it, for always and forever. He would never leave the room or hang up the phone without saying I love you. Our lives are going to be so empty without him in it.
Survivors include: Parents, Corey and Phyllis Gregory, Sister, Hanna Gregory, Son, Gatlin Swope-Gregory, A large extended family, and countless friends who he considered family.
There will be a private memorial for family at a later date.
Mike you were the best friend I always needed and wanted from kindergarten to now. Being on the soccer team with my and my brother kody it was always us no matter what. I remember how you became my family and me yours from going to bbqs and bothering your dad and mom and Hannah all time. From my grandma never remembering your name and always called you Mark. From getting a ticket in a no swimming zone and our parents were so mad. From working with you to everything imaginable we could do together. I will always love you and you and your family with always be mine as well. I love Mike to the moon and back. I will never forget the best friendship I have ever had.
I’m going to miss Michael more than I can even begin to think to describe. He’s been such a huge part of my life for 23 years, my best friend, and someone who has made an incredibly huge impact on my life. I’ve been scrolling through the messages and Facebook wall posts we used to spam each other with, and it’s made me miss that goofiness so much. He’s forever going to be in my heart. From the first day of kindergarten, when I saw you on the bus upset that you missed your stop, and I grabbed you and told you to come with me and I showed you your stop. Ever since then, we were inseparable even when I was moving to states all over this country. We used to beat each other up outside all the time, and I usually won because I was so much taller. And when I finally made it back here when I turned 18, and you ran to me and gave me a huge hug while spinning me around, and the first thing you said was “looks like you can’t beat me up anymore, shorty. I’m finally taller, I missed you, Ash.” Or the time when you came to my apartment and I made you try sriracha on pizza, and your mind was absolutely blown, and I couldn’t stop laughing because you thought it was a fantastic discovery. But my best memories of all involve your huge hugs. I love and miss you so much, Mike. My heart goes out to Michael’s family, I send them nothing but love and healing their way. Thank you for having given the world the privilege to know and love him. We love and miss you, Mike. You impacted so many people’s lives.
I meet Mike thru my son Michael,What a wonderful young man I miss you dearly, that is so true about him telling you that he loved you. I can’t count the many times I heard him say that to us I love you Mike

Such a kindhearted caring young man! He always had a smile on his face. Watching him grow up from Cler Mont and through the high school, he was the sweetest!
You will be missed by many!!
I can’t begin to imagine the terrible loss of Michael. We live so far away, but at every family gathering, Michael always made an impact on me. He had an infectious smile, and was always loving. He and his wonderful family will always be in my heart, my thoughts, and my prayers. With love, aunt Robin.
