Virginia (Girlie) Santiago – Palao, 78, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at The University of Kansas Health System. Born on June 18, 1945, in Valenzuela City, Philippines. She lived in Elgin, IL and was a resident of Overland Park, KS since 2008.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and a friend. She was known as Mama, Yeye, Lola, Tita Girlie, Ninang, Mommy Gie and Tita Gie. She will be remembered for many gifts but perhaps especially for her love of family and friends, her grace, and graciousness, her generous spirit, her kindness, and empathy. She is known for her delicious home cooking. She loved her friends, near and far, from Pulo, Valenzuela, Philippines, and California, Nevada to Kansas. More than anything else she adored her thirteen grandchildren whom she all took care of and loved unconditionally and abundantly.
She leaves to cherish her memory her four children and their spouses: Vincent and Leah (Bellflower, CA), Agrifina and Charles (Overland Park, KS), Virginia (Las Vegas, NV) Michael and Abigail (Elgin, IL). Her thirteen grandchildren were always a source of great happiness and pride; include Vince Christian, Angelo, Adrian, Valerie, Brian, CJ, Ari, Joshua, Jake, Jill, Kaira, Mykel, and Gabriel.
We are deeply grateful to all family and friends who helped mom on her difficult journey. Final goodbye will be held at 9:30 am, Friday, 7/14, 2023 at 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO. A celebration of life will be held in the future date.

In behalf of my family. Please accept my sincere prayers and condolences to the entire family of Mommy G. She was the sweetest friend I have ever known. She cares for everyone that she knows, and she make sure everyone get to taste her delicious cooking… I will miss her gentle heart yet opinionated in a way that you will realized, she is spot on.
I am so blessed to know and be part of her circle of friends… I will cherish her many sweet jokes.. ??
She was one of a kind friend.
