Charles Edward Layman

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Charles Edward Layman, a beloved husband, father, friend, and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He left this world on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 4:45pm, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on May 22, 1935, Charles Edward Layman lived a life that exemplified kindness, strength, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones. He was a beacon of light, a man of integrity, and a true role model in every sense of the word.

Charles had an indomitable spirit and an insatiable curiosity that led him on a lifelong journey of learning and growth. He cherished every moment and taught us that life’s true richness lay in the bonds we create and the memories we share.

An accomplished pilot, policeman, professor, soldier, Charles touched the lives of countless individuals through his work, sharing his expertise generously and leaving an indelible mark on his field.

Beyond his professional achievements, Charles was a family man through and through. He cherished his role as a loving husband and a devoted father to Leonard, Lauri, Scott, Chris and Brian. His wisdom, guidance, and unconditional love formed the cornerstone of their lives.

Friends and family will remember Charles’s infectious laughter, his warm embrace, and his remarkable ability to uplift the spirits of those around him. His memory will forever remind us to approach life with grave, empathy, and a sense of adventure.

In his free time, Charles enjoyed wood carving and was very good at it. He also loved his grandchildren and would share stories of the funny times.

He is survived by children Lauri Hudnall, Scott Layman and Brian Trask.

A Celebration of Charles’s life will be held later, where we will gather to honor his memory, share stories, and find solace in one another’s company.

Through Charles may have left his earthly realm, his legacy will forever live on in our hears and minds. He has left behind a legacy of live, compassion, and a zest for life that will continue to inspire us for generations to come.

    Enjoyed many fun times with Charlie, Sheri, Scott and Chris when the children were younger. Charlie was always fun to be around.
