Caruso J. Long Sr

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Caruso J. Long Sr., who departed this life on March 2, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on January 15, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, Caruso was the beloved son of Hershel Eugene Long Jr. and Allene Long.

Caruso was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School District and dedicated much of his working life at Corn Products before transitioning to a career as an independent contractor with Yellow Cab Company, where he served his community until his well-earned retirement.

On Sunday, March 2, 2025, Caruso exchanged his mortal robe for his immortal garment, stepping into eternal rest.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hershel Eugene Long Jr. and Allene Long, as well as his brother, Hershel Eugene Long II; nephews, Michael Long and Gavin Long; Momma Carter, and sister Mary Long-Thompson.

Caruso leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories with his longtime love and companion, Carolyn Bethel; his devoted daughter, Lanetta Long, and son, Caruso J. Long Jr.; his beloved granddaughter, La’Naea King; his special niece, Kim Long, and special nephew, Micaiah Thompson; and his daughter, Mary Hill Thompson, and son. He is also survived by his sister, Michelle Long, along with a host of cousins, relatives, and dear friends.

Though we grieve his passing, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on. We feel the ache, the tears that fall, yet know he walks where angels call. In whispers soft, in dreams we see, his love remains, eternally.

Amen.
