Beloved mother, Avera B. Hansen, 89, Raytown, MO, passed away September 24, 2010, at Centerpoint Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at Heartland Cremation, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, MO 64133. A visitation will precede the service and begin at 10 a.m. Mrs. Hansen was born March 29, 1921, to Howard Van Watts and Bessie (Avera) Watts in Beaumont, TX. Avera was preceded in death by her husband Herschel, a son Howard, her parents, three sisters, and two brothers. She will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind, children Carol Kitchens (Chuck), Tom Hansen (Phyllis), Patricia Jesseph (Glenn), Terry Hansen (Linda); 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and two brothers John and Ernest Watts. Avera enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. “Family was her Life,” followed only by her faith, a 39-year member of The Blue Ridge United Methodist Church. She was an active participant in the church, a willing volunteer for R.E.A.P., and a founding member of Silver Streaks. She also enjoyed reading, flowers, and her feline companion, Sheba. Memorials are suggested to the The Blue Ridge United Methodist Church.
