Barbara Sager

Barbara Ellen Hedges Sager was born on July 15, 1927 and died February 15, 2007. Memorial services will be held at First Baptist Church of Jefferson City, Missouri, on Feb. 17, 2007, at 1:30 p.m., with visitation following the services in the fellowship hall, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Graveside services will be at Grandview Cemetery, Albany, Missouri, on Feb. 19, 2007, at 10 a.m., followed by visitation at the Albany Baptist Church from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Barbara was the daughter of Edward Hedges and Ola McCluney Hedges. She grew up on a farm near Warrensburg, MO. She graduated from the College Laboratory High School in Warrensburg. On November 25, 1946, she married Norlin M. Sager, who survives of the home in Jefferson City, MO. She attended Central Missouri State College, Warrensburg, Missouri Western State College, St. Joseph and Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville. She taught school for several years and loved writing poetry. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Jefferson City, MO. Throughout her life, she served in various capacities in her church. Barbara will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, positions which she fulfilled with joy. Her wish was to point others to her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Leslie Kerns and her husband, Kenneth of New Bloomfield, MO; two sons, Rodney Sager and his wife, Ginger, of Dallas, TX; Doyle Sager and his wife, Janet of Jefferson City, MO, 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, a sister, Helen Jolly of Des Moines, IA; a brother, William Eugene Hedges and his wife Bernadene Hedges of Lee?s Summit, MO, plus many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Dennis R. Sager in 1970 and by two brothers, Carl Hedges and John Hedges.
Memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church, 301 East Capitol Avenue, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
