Bessie Tripp

Bessie Annis (Warner) Tripp, 93, Kansas City, Missouri died May 26, 2007 at her home. Graveside services will be held 10 AM, Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at Floral Hills Cemetery. Mrs Tripp was born February 2, 1914 in Blairstown, MO. Daughter of William Maxwell & Mary (Cox) Warner. She had five brothers and one sister, all of whom preceded her in death. They were a farm family that worked the land around Chilhowee and Holden, MO. She later worked at the Hipsh Tie Factor, in Holden. In 1943 she moved to KC and sewed pockets on uniforms at Pratt & Whitney. When laid off after the War she put herself through beauty school and became a beautician at the Flo Geatry Salon, just down the street from Tripp Upholstery where she met Bradford Tripp. They married March 17, 1951. In 1957, at the age of 43, she gave birth to her only child and in 1962 opened her own beauty shop. She was active in the PTA, made clothes for charity and worked in the school cafeteria on Mondays, when her shop was closed. Baptised at Bear Creek Baptist Church, she later moved her membership to Antioch Baptist Church in KC where she was an active member serving on the hospitality committee & twice on the pulpit committee. She visited nursing homes once a month and family members in nursing homes at least once a week. Ann was a strong, generous, independent woman full of wisdom, compassion, humor, courage & vitality. She will be greatly missed by all. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Tripp.
