Catherine Hoenig Benard, 94, of Columbia passed away September 6, 2009 at South Hampton Place. Services will be held at a later date in New York. Catherine was born on February 6, 1915 in Lee County, Iowa to the late Martin and Mary (Budke) Hoenig. She is survived by one son, Bruce Benard, and his wife Laura, of Columbia.

Dear Laura and Bruce, I visited your mom at South Hampton for the past few years bringing her Holy Communion. I enjoyed visiting her and sharing our faith. She always wanted to receive Holy Communion, even on days she could barely wake up. It was that important to her. She is an inspiration. And while I know you will miss her, I am also happy for her. I’m glad she’s been apart of my life. In life and death we belong to the Lord. With heartfelt sympathy and prayers. Sincerely, Jane
