Clara Rhoads

Clara Roma Rhoads, 97, Raytown, MO, passed away September 26 at Hidden Lake Care Center. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 2, 2010, at Blue Ridge Trinity Lutheran Church; 5757 Blue Ridge Blvd.; Raytown, MO, where friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Roma was born October 24, 1912, in Crescent, OK, to Charles Ross & Bertha May (McCammon) Wells. She moved to Kansas City in 1917 where she graduated from Northeast High School. Roma retired from SWB Yellow Pages in 1976 and was a member of the AT&T Pioneers. She was a member of Children’s Memorial Lutheran Church until she joined Blue Ridge Trinity Lutheran Church. A passion of hers and her sister’s was family research which gave her reason to be active in The Heart of America Genealogical Society for many years. Roma also belonged to the Raytown Historical Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major Mack Rhoads. Roma is survived by a stepson Donald C. Rhoads and his wife Norene, Henderson, NV, five grand- daughters, and 13 great-grandchildren; niece, Judy Stephens, Fairway, KS; nephew, Charles F. Anderson and his wife, Helen, Merriam, KS; niece, Donna Dice and her husband Jack C. Dice, Littleton, CO; great-niece, Courtney Kirk and her husband, Samuel K. Kirk, Kansas City, MO; and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Trinity Lutheran Church In lieu of flowers.
