David Current

David H. Current, 80, Blue Springs, Mo., passed away September 6, 2006, at home. He was an ironworker by trade, an accomplished musician, and a WWII veteran. He was a four string tenor jazz banjo musician. He and his wife entertained throughout the Midwest as “The Current Sound.” He was a life member of the Ararat Shrine and was the founder of the Ararat Shrine Banjo Band. He was also a member of the Independence Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite. David played for the KC Chiefs Tailgate Dixieland Band. He was preceded in death by his parents Garrett and Katherine Current, and a brother James. He is survived by his wife Jeananne; daughters and sons-inlaw Pamela and Larry Moehle, Cathy and Stuart Sundvold; four grandchildren, Gretchen Knust and husband John, Jeff Moehle and wife Dani, Carly Sundvold, Christie McElhinney and husband Curtis; two great granddaughters, Vaysia and Azaria Knust. His family will be gathering for a private celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ararat Shrine Crippled Children’s Hospital.
