David E. Facklam, age 60, of Raytown, Mo., formerly of Emporia, Kan., passed away early Thursday morning, January 4, 2007, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City after a six-year battle with cancer. David was the son of the late John and Bernadine Facklam of Emporia. He graduated from Emporia High School in 1964, attended Emporia State and resided in Emporia until 1990. He was retired from the Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Railroad after 37 years of service. Mr. Facklam is survived by his wife, Janice Facklam, of the home; son Jon and wife Kris Facklam, of Springfield, Mo.; son Jeff Facklam of Overland Park, Kan.; Craig and Kay Bright of Wichita, Kan.; John and Laura Bright of Sand Springs, Okla.; and Shelli Bright of Tulsa, Okla. He was the proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Duane and wife Marilyn Facklam, and Dean Facklam, all of Raytown, Mo., and two sisters and their husbands, Jeanette and Craig Burris of Shawnee Mission, Kan., and Barbara and Stan Crawford of Denver, Colo. Visitation will be Monday evening, January 8, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Heartland Funeral Home, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd., in Raytown, Mo., with funeral services Tuesday, January 9, at 2 p.m. in the same location. Memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Mercy Hospital, David’s favorite charity.
