Donald Yant

Donald O. Yant, 85, Independence, MO, passed away January 19, 2005, at the Medical Center of Independence. Memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday, January 22 at Christ United Methodist Church, 14506 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Private family graveside services will be held in Lincoln, NE. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church in Donald’s memory. Donald was born June 19, 1919, in Crete, NE. He served his country in the Southeast Pacific during WWII with the 345th Apache Bomb Group. He was discharged as a Staff Sgt. Donald was a member of American Legion Post 21 and VFW Post 1738. He was a longtime member of Sheet Metal Worker’s Retiree’s Union, Local 2, serving as a past Secretary. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church for 60 years, and attended the Asbury Sunday School class. Donald was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Dale Yant. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Winifred (Mueller) Yant, of the home; children Donald Roger Yant and wife Brenda, Iverness, MS, and Sherry Tremblay and husband Wilfred, Greencastle, IN; sister Dorothy Hanek, Omaha, NE; sister-in-law Joyce Yant, TX; four grandsons, Donald Trevor Yant and wife Allison, Fredrick Travis Yant, Roger Trey Yant, and Marc Tremblay; one great-granddaughter, Lily Yant; and four nieces.
