Earl Summers

Earl “Ben” Summers, 84, Independence, Mo., passed away on July 29, 2010. Visitation will held from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, August 2, 2010, at Heartland Cremation & Burial Society in Raytown, Mo. Following the visitation, private graveside services will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas City Hospice House. Ben was born August 11, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Following the Navy, Ben graduated from UMKC. He was preceded by his wife, Mary Summers; grandsons Jacob Summers and Thomas Saladino; brothers Francis and Jim Summers, and sister Mary Clemensen. Survivors include children Steve Summers, Stephanie (Richard) Jackson, and Mary Beth (Tom) Saladino, all of Lee’s Summit, Mo.; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Rev. John Holt, Blue Springs, Mo.; grandchildren Chalon, Sara, Lauren and Alika, and nieces and nephews.
