MAJOR FRANK R. BUNKERS, USMC, unexpectedly passed away on June 18, 2009. Beloved son of E. William and Elizabeth Bunkers; brother of William B. Bunkers (Laurie Van Der Tuin); uncle of Elizabeth, Hannah and Christopher Bunkers; dear fiance of Morgan Seaborn-Shiver; dear son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He was a graduate of St. Louis University High School, St. Louis University, St. Louis University Law School and The University of San Diego.

Frank was proud of his years in the Corps, and served his country in Washington, D.C., Alaska, Rhode Island, Louisiana, California, the Ukraine and finally in Missouri. Throughout his life he delighted in dogs, fitness and martial arts, in which he earned a Black Belt. Reciting the Holy Rosary was part of his daily life. Services and internment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, July 16, 2009 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, Catholic Holy Mass Memorials or donations to The Humane Society of Missouri are appreciated.

    Frankie – What a goofy cousin you were. I have fond memories of you, Billy and myself playing football on Grandpa’s lawn. I am shocked and saddend by your death. Say hello to all our relatives, especially my Mom and Dad. Love, Andy

    Frank loved his dogs as much as he loved the Marine Corps. He served well never asking for anything in return save for the opportunity to serve. Frank was a loyal and steadfast friend and Marine. My heart is heavy as TAPS are sounded for Frank. Semper fi,

    Frank will be sorely missed in our neighborhood! His neighbors enjoyed talking to him while he was out walking his dog, and I always enjoyed our conversations when the opportunity arose. Many thanks to Bill Bunkers for a job well done in getting Frank’s personal property together. Obviously, he loved his brother very much, and this was a tough job to have to do. Mr. & Mrs. Bunkers have two sons to be very proud of!

    Frank, you will be missed. I’m glad you prayed the rosary every day. I hope you pray for the rest of us now.

    To Elmer and Betty and Bill and Laurie, be sure to watch out for each other and take care of each other and yourselves in this time of pain. Even though it might not seem possible, the pain will pass.

    Frank – you will always be Frankie to me. I remember all the times playing at Nan and Pop’s and the knuckle sandwich that I was always able to avoid. How quickly time passes. Why does the time go without staying in touch like we should? This all seems too surreal. My dear cousin you will be missed. Love, Terry

    I know Frank’s brother, Bill…I did not have the pleasure of ever meeting Frank…but if he is even a tiny bit like his brother, then he was a wonderful human being…my condolences to the entire family…
