Helen Tietjens Owen, 90, rural Carrollton, MO passed away June 2, 2010. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at First Baptist Church, Norborne, MO.
Helen Margaret Tietjens was born November 2, 1919 in Sugar Tree Township, Carroll County, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Effie and Elbert Tietjens; son, Weldon; son-in-law, Ron Newman; and a grandson, Clark Wood.
Survivors include her husband, Jack, of the home; daughters, June Newman of Carrollton, MO, Kay Wood of Norborne, MO, and Jeanne Holmes of Union, MO; daughter-in-law, Ruth Owen of Carrollton, MO; sons-in-law, Willard Wood of Norborne, MO and Tony Holmes of Union, MO; grandchildren, Kenneth Wood of Norborne, MO, Paul Wood of Branson, MO, Owen Newman of Lenexa, KS, Justin Newman of Baltimore, MD, Nathan Owen of Norborne, MO, Heath Owen of Carrollton, MO, Spencer Owen of Carrollton, MO, Abraham Owen of Carrollton, MO, Nicolaus Holmes of Union, MO, Susannah Holmes Runyon of North Africa, and Martha Margarete Holmes Mayfield of Great Falls, MT; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to HELP Services Cancer Fund in Carrollton or to the American Cancer Society.

Grandma was a very gracious lady and I didn’t know of her to complain even in the last couple of years when you know she was uncomfortable. We love and miss you. You raised a wonderful family.
I did not have the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Owen, but I knew her sister, Martha. If Mrs. Ownen was anything like Martha, then she was a wonderful & loving person! My condolences to the family.
