Helen M. Vowels, 91, was shepherded into eternal life with our Heavenly Father on October 15, 2003. Cremation. In the spring of 2004 there will be a Celebration Service held at a special location in the mountains in Mayhill, NM. Memorial contributions may be made in Helen’s name to any Mission’s program at the church of your choice. Helen was born October 28, 1910 in Cairo, IL. She met her husband, “Ben” at Cairo High School. They married in August of 1932. He passed away March 5, 1994, after 62 years of marriage. She was a nurse at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Helen was known for her good hospitality, being a good cook and caring for others. She was called “Mom”, “Aunt Helen” and “Grandma”. She always shared what she had. In her passing she has joined her husband William “Ben” Vowels, son, Ronald Vowels, son William “Buddy” Vowels, three siblings and many other loved ones. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Roger Murphy of Alamogardo, NM; son, Phillip Vowels of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Sheila Provance, Jon Claude Murphy, Abby, Nelson, Claire, Parker, Christopher, Gretchen, Katrina, Ronald, Gregory, Teresa, DOnna, Kimberly, and David Vowels. In addition Helen leaves a legacy of loving memories to numerous nephews, nieces, great-grandchildren, and other lives she had touched.
