Houston Leaton

Houston Leaton was born on November 11, 1992 and died of a rare children’s cancer known as Rhabdomyosarcoma on December 2, 2008. Houston was born in Kansas City, Kansas to father, James Leaton and mother, Patricia Malone. Houston leaves behind his brother, Dakota Leaton, two half-sisters, Morgan and Phoenix. He was grandson to Paul Leaton. Houston was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sally Leaton. Houston was nephew to Paul and Vicki Leaton, Fred and Mary Leaton and Rose Denk. Houston also departs from his extended family and "mother" Michele and Ronnie Mayhew. Houston was a sophomore student of Raytown South High School Class of 2011 with a GPA of 4.0 that he took great pride in. His compassion for others and courageous fight for life surpassed his pain and inspired everyone. He was friends to many and will remain forever in the hearts of all that he touched. Houston Leaton will never be forgotten. His unfailing faith has now lead him into the arms of his loving Savior. A celebration of Houston’s life will be held at The River Christian Fellowship (River Church), 6400 Woodson, in Raytown, MO on December 6th, 2008 at 2:00 o’clock. The family wishes to express their thanks to Childrens’ Mercy Hospital, Carousel Hospice, HyVee and the Raytown South High School Student body and faculty. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the charity of their choice or the Houston Leaton Memorial Fund at Bank of the West.
