Jake could always make anyone laugh no matter what was going on, He was a wonderful person and always so happy. He came to our house one day to visit my brother trent and he stepped on our rake and it came up and hit him in the face and so my dad nicknamed him jake the rake and thats how my dad always remembered him. He will be dearly missed, and never forgotten. my love and prayers go out to all the family in this time of need.

Where do i even begin…… One time Jake called my house and told my mom that he was with the Jackson County police department. He proceeded to tell her that i was in custody for one charge or another that he made up. Finally after about 10 min as my mom was frantically searching for bail money and trying not to cry from being mad at me Jake told her it was him. She couldn’t help but laugh because hey it was Jake and that’s what he made people do. Gonna miss you Jake but everyone knows that Heaven is a whole lot more fun now that you’re there. See you someday, Shaman.t

My memories are old but I still remember them 12 yrs. later. Jake, Jen, Meridith and I went to prom together. To start the night off Jake had a flat tire and he just smiled and giggled about it and made the rest of us laugh extremely hard. So we finally made it to dinner and guess what Jake orders? “Frog Legs” When his plate arrived he immediatley grabbed the frog legs and made them start doing the broadway leg kick and singing ” Hello my baby Hello my darling” song. I think we laughed for 30 min. before any of us ever took a bite of food! I will probably remember that night for a long time to come! He was a good man and always smiling from ear to ear.Thats the way he will be remembered.

Jake, I knew you since you were born, and, in some ways, you were almost like the younger brother I never had instead of my nephew due to our ages. I always will remember your love of “Dukes of Hazzard” (“Dog Paddle” when you were too young to pronounce it!) and “The Greatest American Hero.” It was so cool for me when I could get William Katt’s signed photo for you the summer I interned at Starlight Theatre–you mom said she still has one! Your sense of humor–so amazing. I can hear your laugh now, and, despite the pain, it makes me smile. Tori is truly a beautiful person and such a true angel for you! Your boys–what can you say other than the cutest, sweetest guys ever, like that’s any surprise with Tori and you as their parents! Love you–and Tori, Zander, and Brycen–so much forever and ever! My thoughts went from, “whoa, what is this going to cost us to…. dang, jake, your the man! ” I will never forget you and I will make sure your sons know you and how you lived. That’s a promise. Jake,
The only thing I can say is THANK YOU! In the short time I was blessed to be around you, you taught me a life’s worth of lessons.
You were teh easiest guy to talk to and although most of our conversations were based on me seeking reassurance, you never hesitated to listen and offer your advice.
You were a persistant man when it came to the crappy clutch in my Honda and I imagine you approached all problems in life the same way. You never showed any quit and that was evident even in the end.
I promise to love, care for and look out for you family any way I can. I promise to never let the memory of you fade. You will be missed and celebrated my friend.

I’m going to miss seeing your goofy face around! You were truly one of the funniest people I knew and always had the perfect thing to say to make people laugh. Our trip to Tantara was one of the best trips I have ever taken. We had so much fun (minus the parts where I hit my elbow on the boat and the rest of us repeatedly hit our heads on the lower deck on our way to dinner). I wouldn’t trade memories like those for the world. I am thankful for the memories and jealous that you made it to heaven before the rest of us! Can’t wait to see you again! : )

  69. Casey Swadley on May 25, 2010 at 1:32 pm

Jake, we grew up in the same town and saw each other at parties from time to time, but ironically, I worked with your wife for 2 years when you two began dating and this probably when I saw the most of you. I vivdly remember you coming up to the office in your jeans and steel-toed boots with bouquets of flowers in hand for that beautiful wife of yours, pretty much on a weekly basis just to say you loved her. Im sure the husbands of all her female co-workers wished you would knock it off! 🙂 It was no secret how crazy you were about her and she about you, both for very obvious reasons. One of my favorite quotes is…”And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” As we can all clearly see from all the kind messages from your loved ones, you made an outstanding number of people smile in your time here on earth, not to mention the two wonderful young men left to carry on your legacy. Im sure, they too, will bring many smiles to those around them. For the Richman and Davis Families…2 Corinthians 1:3-4 – “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” May God shower you all with peace and love. ~ The Swadley Family

As I’m reading all of these entries I feel like I was the luckiest one of all – because you were my brother. My first friend and my best friend. You were there for me my entire life – always there to rescue me when I needed help the most and sometimes you rescued me before I even knew I needed your help. You always knew just what to say to put my problems into perspective, make me laugh even when I was crying and ultimately the person who got me through and over all of life’s obstacles. I love you so much! I’m so grateful to have you as my brother.

I finally sat down and tried to come to terms with all that has happened. At first there was shock… maybe even denial. Then I felt an immense grief, followed by anger… it is unfair that you have left so far before your time. But then, who am I to question what God has planned for you? Finally getting over my selfish emotions, I began to feel comfort. Memories of us as children came flooding in, and my last few memories of you are also my best memories of you. Jake, you take with you an immense love from all who knew you – that speaks volumes of your life here. You have also gifted the world with two of the cutest little boys, who I am certain will make you proud. And there is no better comfort than knowing that you will be watching over them and guiding them as they grow into men – men like you. We will miss you, Jake, and will think of you often…. will think of you with love in our hearts.

I will never forget how funny and cute Jake Richman was. He was truly one of a kind. I photographed Jake & Tori’s wedding and took their maternity photos and every photo shoot was fun and very entertaining. It was always so nice to be in the presence of two people truly in love like Tori & Jake. Or in Jake’s case I should say “in heat!” He adored Tori and I always hoped to find a great man like Jake one day. He was really one of my favorite customers. It was so easy to get him to smile. Actually I think he made me smile more than I made him smile! He was very special and I will miss photographing his cute face and fun personality. I hope to see that same charm and love for life in his boys.

Jake, you knew what I thought, before I thought it. I know you are healed now and in a better place. but that doesn’t help the pain of your loss. We will recover, for your sake, you have shown us how to do that. The boys are fine and will be. you were loved by everyone you met. “Save a place for me, I’ll be there soon”. Love you

I will miss you Jake. You were the life of our family’s get togethers and one terrific nephew. It won’t be the same without your laughter and smiles. I was looking through old family photos, and there was the one were you and Angela were dressed up like Princess Diana and Prince Charles on their wedding day. You two were so cute, especially that cowboy hat and of course, that big smile. My heart goes out to my brother and Diane, as a parent myself, I don’t know how you guys are holding it together, to beautiful Tori, I am so sorry your prince charming is gone–you guys did have the fairy tale, and Angela, you and Jake were closer than any other brother and sister I have ever seen, he loved you so much–I’m here if you need me. To Zander and Brycen, I see so much of Jake in you guys already and that’s a great thing. It just isn’t right that we lost Jake so soon. Let me know if there is anything that I can do. You all are always in my thoughts and I send you all my love.

I never met Jake but Clint my husband went to college with him. From what Clint has said about him he was a great guy and a good friend. Clint lost contact with Jake and I know now that he regrets that. We will be praying for your family. I couldn’t imagine loosing Clint. Even though we know he is in a better place doesn’t mean that we wont still miss him here on earth. God be with you in this time of loss.

Tori told us about a man she had met. She told us he was really sweet. With his charm and charisma, he swept her off her feet.

We kept hearing about this man who had captured Tori’s heart. It was time to meet the family. Sometimes, the hard part.

With your funny shirts and jokes that were bold. We began to realize you had a heart of gold.

We had holiday dinners. The messes were crazy, but you would clean it all up while everyone else was being lazy.

You could fix anything. You knew just what to do. But what he did best was fix me and you.

You and Tori would watch my kids, and they adored you too. Though we often wondered…Who was watching who.

You always had fun and love pulling pranks. You made people feel better and for that we say thanks.

You were there for the first cuz bash. Looking for fun we started the search. I can’t tell you everything…because we are in church.

You had a wonderful personality. You were truly second to none. You always went above and beyond to do anything for anyone.

The news came you were having a baby and everyone was so excited for you. You and Tori would make great parents. This we all knew.

All was going well. Life was really great. Then came the news, that made all of our hearts break.

There was overwhelming love and support as the battle began. No one knew what to expect, but we would help in any way we can.

While fighting this evil thing you remained unchanged. You fought every day. Never admitting pain.

You have two wonderful boys and an amazing wife. You were bound and determined to continue living your life.

As bad turned to worse. All was still worthwhile. You took it in stride. Always with a smile.

You were so strong. You never wanted to quit. You never showed weakness. Not even a little bit.

As your time grew closer, we were told it wouldn’t be long. But you weren’t ready to go…your heart was too strong.

When the end was here your courage remained the same. We took comfort in knowing you felt no more pain.

Your wife in unbelievable. It is powerful to see. Your two beautiful boys, now your legacy.

Don’t worry about a thing. They are in good hands. They will learn about their Dad, such a wonderful man.

You are on to a better place. Better than this Earth. But we will never forget One GREAT man’s worth.

You are so loved. You will be missed. Your boys brought up right. On that we insist.

You are watching over us now on this journey we make. But please remember this…We will ALWAYS love you Jake.
