James Church

James W. Church, 87, Lenexa, KS passed away Jan. 3, 2007. He was born in Oak Grove, MO on Sept. 6, 1919 to Fred W. and Birdie (Owings) Church. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peg) Church; his sister, Rachel Campbell; 4 children; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He entered the US Army in March of 1941 at Ft. Leavenworth, KS and served for over 4 years, being discharged as a 50 year member of Buckner Lodge #501, Scottish Rite 32nd degree Mason, Ararat Shrine, and a charter member of Pipes and Drums. He retired in 1981 as Vice President of Mid Central/Sysco after 31 years. Upon retirement, he moved to Bella Vista, AR. He was an avid fisherman and a past president of Bella Vista, AR Fly Tyers Club. A memorial service will he held at Heritage United Methodist Church (12850 Quivera) on Jan. 8 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at 1:30 pm at Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Care Alternatives or Shriner’s Crippled Chilren’s Fund.
