Joyce B. Szilagyi, 51, peacefully passed on to her Lord’s care on December 8, 2006. Joyce was born in Passaoc, NJ on Nov. 9, 1955. After graduating from State College Area High School she attended South Hills Business College. Prior to moving to KC in 1998, Joyce had lived and worked in Lexington, KY, Stanford, CN and State College, PA. Joyce is survived by her loving son James (Natalie) Gentry of Los Angeles, CA; daughter Rachael Gentry of Tuscon, AZ; parents Ernest J. and Marie A. (Jaworski) Szilagyi of Wildwood, NJ; brothers Bernard (Ellen) of Wanaque, NJ, James (Marybeth) of Fairfield, CT; and sisters Judy (Peter) Neary of Easton, CT, Janet (Richard) French of Dowington, PA; partner Jerry Murphy of Kansas City; and many nieces and nephews. Joyce will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends. Funeral services will be held Easter weekend, 2007 on her favorite beach in Wildwood, NJ. May she rest in eternal peace.

I remember Joyce very well. We were close friends at Ramapo High School in New Jersey. I found this obituary while searching for Joyce. We will remember her at our 50th high school reunion this month, August 2023. She should have graduated with us but left the school early to attend to family responsibilities.
Joyce was a lot of fun. She was caring and generous. She had a big smile and a wonderful laugh.
I will never forget her.
