Kenneth Sides

Kenneth Sides passed into eternal life on December 31, 2006. The son of Virgil and Ollie Sides, Ken was born on January 31, 1929, and was a lifelong Raytown resident. He graduated Raytown High School in 1947 and worked 37 years as a Millwright for Fairbanks and Morse, retiring in 1992. Surviving family members include his wife of 57 years, Virginia Sides, sons Gary and Phillip Sides, grandchildren John, Nathan, Amy and Andrew Sides, and sister, Jewell D. Meadows. Kenneth was a self taught carpenter and jack of all trades. He loved repairing motors, woodworking, and fixing just about anything. After retiring, he used his skills and knowledge traveling to various Group Work Camp sites, teaching young people how to repair homes, roof, sheet rock, glaze windows, and cut steps. He wintered in Florida with his loving wife, Virginia, and tremendously enjoyed calling his friends and family “up north”, to tell them how warm it was in Florida. We will miss his companionship, advice, stories, and ever present sense of humor. A Celebration of Life will be 1:00pm January 6, 2007 at 1:00pm at Noland Road Baptist Church in Independence, MO. We rejoice that he no longer suffers physically, and invite all who knew him to come with their memories, and share them with the family. Memorial service at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice, National Parkinson’s Foundation, or Noland Road Baptist Church.
