Mary Aker

Mary Frances Aker, 85, of Parkville, Mo died peacefully on May 12, 2007. Visitation will be held 6-8 pm, Monday, May 21, 2007 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 7207 NW Highway 9, Parkville, Mo and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 11 am with a luncheon to follow at St Therese Church, Parkville. Mary Frances was born on September 24, l921 in Marshalltown, Iowa. The only child of James McManus and Mildred Field, she moved with her parents to Kansas City, Mo in l938 where she finished her last year of HS at St. Agnes Academy. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1946 from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. Mary was a nurse for Dr. Johnson Underwood and later practiced nursing at North Kansas City Hospital in the late 50’s and early 60’s and then later in the early 1970’s. Mary Frances met and married RB Aker in 1948. She was a lifelong duplicate bridge player and she loved movies, animals, reading, music and national politics. She was an astute student of presidential politics and a lifelong staunch Democrat. Much loved by all her friends and family she had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed life to its fullest. Mary Frances was preceded in death by her husband, RB Aker, and she is survived by her children, Robert, Barbara and Paul Aker of Parkville, Mo. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown, Iowa.
