Mary Patricia Sparks/Holmes, age 82 of Brownsville, TX
passed away June 29th 2009. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday July 4, 2009 at First
Baptist Church in Blue Springs Missouri.

Mrs. Sparks/Holmes was born June 4, 1927 in Owine, Iowa. Mary resided in Independence Mo for 36 years, followed by 11 years
in Brownsville, TX. Her passing was during a vacation with her husband
Gary while in Independence, MO. Her survivors include her husband Gary
Holmes, two sons Barry and Randy Sparks, two daughters Ginger Sparks and Gayle
Yount along with their spouses. Also including neices, nephews, grand and
great grand children and many beloved friends. Arrangements are made by
Heartland Cremation & Burial Society, 816-313-1677.

    My Other Mother, Pat was so important to me. The love and caring she showed was incrdible. She taught me many lifes lessions. I loved her dearly and cannot seem to comprehend how to go on without her. She, such a loving and giving person. I will hold her in my heart forever.

    We will miss Ms. Pat she was a great Beauty Instructor she really help me thru alot of things she was a great person that did encourage me to to be a good student for them at Adam and Eve. Our prayers are with you all.

    We’ve experienced a great loss with the departure of Pat Sparks-Holmes. My dear aunt was an extraordinary person: gracious, outgoing, unselfish and genuinely cared for others. She was not only my Aunt, but a dear friend for many years and there are many happy memories we shared. She taught me how to be a lady properly set a table and entertain guests. When my son was born, she came to visit us and said “you and the baby are coming home with me. I’m going to teach you how to be a wonderful Mother”. She devoted herself selflessness in teaching me how to care, provide and connect with my baby. To her credit she gave me the knowledge to raise my baby to adulthood who is now a successful businessesman and a wonderful Father to his daughter, my granddaughter, Alexis. She gave a legacy, her gift of life that will be handed down though many generations in all of our lives. I am sincerely grateful to be her Niece and thankful that God placed such a wonderful Aunt in my life for now and through eternity.
    In summary, Aunt Pat had a beautiful personality. She was self-directed, compassionate, intelligent, hard-working, stylish and funny. She loved life and made this world a better place for all of us. We are all better off for having known her, and I’ll always remember her wonderful personality and beautiful smile.

    My prayers go out to the love of her life, her Husband Gary Holmes, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.

    I came one summer to visit my cousin Gayle; I was 13 years old and very awkward.
    Aunt Pat took one look at me and said “girl we need to do something with you”, so she cut my hair, bought me a padded bra and took me shopping for new clothes.
    When my parents came to pick me up they hardly recognized me, thanks to Aunt Pat’s makeover.
    I was able to go from little girl to teenager.
    I Loved you Aunt Pat may you rest in peace.

    Kissing Grandma! One of the most unique and inspirational women! She made my life better even though I did not get to spend as much time with her as others. I am glad she was able to share her special wisdom and heart with so many. I have tons of stories I love to tell people about her. Once as a young teenager she and I were in a checkout line and she helped out a stranger in one way or another as she often did, and told me that that is why we are here on Earth, to make other people’s lives better. Whenever I got to spend time with her, it has left me with great memories. What a wonderful gal! She even gave me my favorite nickname! I will miss her.
