Norman Lafond

Norman F. Lafond, 77, Overland Park, KS; passed away 5/13/2009 at his residence. A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm, Monday, May 18, 2009 at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas. Mr. Lafond was born 2/3/1932 in Fall River, MA. The Lafond’s were long time residents of Pekin, Illinois before moving to Overland Park, KS three years ago. Norman worked at a chemical plant in Mapleton, Ill for 39 years (Witco when he retired) where he headed the quality control lab. Mr. Lafond graduated from Prevost High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Bradford Durfee Textile in Fall River, MA. He served honorably in the U S Army. He was preceded in death his mother, Alberta Lafond, and his father, Joseph Lafond. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Barbara, 4 children; Norman Lafond, Nancy Knapp, Robert Lafond, and Susan Milroy; 7 grandchildren: Breanna Gibson, John Milroy, Ronald Lafond, Katrina Lafond, Jackie Knapp, Nicole Knapp, and Rachel Knapp. Mr. Lafond is also survived by his 2 brothers, Felix Arthur Lafond of North Tiverton, RI and Marcel Lafond of Fall River, MA and the following nieces and nephews: Collette Lafond, Gerald Lafond, Andrew Lafond, Jeanne Galego, William Lafond, and Paul Lafond. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers
