Phyllis Crago

Phyllis (Loban) Crago, 85, died peacefully June 23, 2007 at Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Olathe, KS. Born in Oelwein, IA, she worked as an assistant portrait photographer, trained as a radio operator (early TWA) and was proud of working much of Howard Hughes’ record transcontinental flight. Phyllis was an awardwinning, published poet and was known for her many artistic talents. Her illuminated calligraphy hangs in prominent places throughout the world. Her intricate knitting patterns were also published. Phyllis is survived by her sons Craig & wife Barbara, Olathe, KS and Kent & wife Kathy, Moscow, Russia and Mt. Carmel, IL; four grandchildren, Abigail, Cameron, Sean and wife Kim, Christopher & wife Mary; brother Duane Loban & wife Mary, Denver, CO; sister-inlaw Dolores Loban, Oelwein, IA; four nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by David, her husband of 57 years and her brothers Miles and Warren. Phyllis was active at St. Michael & All Angels Church, La Sertoma, Anglican Fellowship of Prayer and International Order of St. Luke. A celebration of her life will be held July 6, 2007 at 1:00 PM at St. Michael & All Angels Church, 67th & Nall Ave. Memorial donations may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice, 3100 Broadway, Ste. 300, KCMO 64111.

    I lived right behind the Crago’s as a child in Praities Village, KS and remember spending many hours playing with Toy Soldiers in Kent’s basement. They were are great family and my thoughts are with all of them.. God Bless !!
