Robert Collins

Robert J. “Bob” Collins, 53, Blue Springs, MO passed away January 20, 2003 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Cremation. Memorial services are 10 am Thursday, January 30, at Plaza Heights Baptist Church, 1500 SW Clark Rd., Blue Springs, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Bob. Bob was born January 3, 1950 in Chillicothe, MO, to Margaret (Kester) and Bob Collins. They moved to Kansas City when Bob was five. He graduated from Oak Park High School in 1968, and was a member of the Plaza Heights Baptist Church. In April 2001, Bob retired from the Kansas City Star after 30 years as a pressman. Bob was an avid pool player, winning many events around the Blue Springs and Lee’s Summit areas, and enjoyed his pool buddies. Bob leaves his wife Tami, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Angelique and Grant Turnage, Grain Valley, MO; daughter, Courtney Collins, of the home; stepdaughter, Chanda Binstock and husband Jeff, Atlanta, GA; stepdaughter, Tara Siegfried and grandson, Craig James, both of Lee’s Summit, MO; mother, Margaret “Maggie” Collins, Kansas City, MO; sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and Doug Swift; niece and nephew, Lauren and Adam; aunt, Betty Mairs and cousin, John, Hemet, CA; mother and father-in-law, Jim and Linda Butner, Preston, MO; sister-in-law, Rhonda Ross and husband Dan; nieces, Kiera, Chelsea and Kayla, Atlanta, GA; brother-in-law, Jim Butner, Lexington, MO; along with a wonderful extended family. Bob also leaves behind a very special friend, Bill Friess, whom was like a son to him. Bob had many friends and touched so many lives as he so courageously battled cancer. Bob will be greatly missed by his family and friends. They feel like it was a great privilage to have known him, and know he is home with his Lord and is united with his dad and all his loved ones who had gone before him.
