Stella Meredith Snookie Schaffer

Stella Meredith Schaffer, 86, of Liberty, Missouri passed away on February 19, 2010 at Ashton Court Care Center. A memorial service will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in St. Louis, Missouri, on May 22nd at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to St. James Catholic Church-Hillcrest Ministries (Liberty, Mo.) or St. Augustine Catholic Church-scholarship fund (St. Louis, Mo.).

Meredith was born in St. Louis, Mo., on February 16, 1924, and was raised by Willie and Georgia Coleman. Meredith lived most of her life in St. Louis. She held numerous jobs and was a very hard worker. She retired at the age of 76. Meredith was loved by many and was and was a very charitable soul. She was a wonderful mother, godmother, grandmother and avid lover of animals. Meredith attended St. Roch Catholic Church (Waterman St.) ,and Blessed Sacrament (Kingshighway St.) while living in St. Louis. She attended St. James Catholic Church once she moved to Liberty, Mo.

Meredith was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Georgia Coleman, husband, Ben Schaffer, sisters, Marie Wells and Velma Young, Godparents, Muriel and Issac Armstrong and God brother, Issac Armstrong Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Schaffer George, son-in-law, Santosh George, grandchildren, Mathew, Grace and Meredith, Goddaughter Juanita Mena Peal, nephews, William Young, Marlon Young, Andre Wells, and many devoted friends who cherished her.
