Sanford Mallin

Sanford Mallin died peacefully in his sleep Thursday, December 18th at Garden Terrace Nursing Home.  A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, December 19th at Congregation Beth Torah in Overland Park, KS.  For 74 years, Sandy was surrounded by family and friends who loved and cherished him.  He was born in Lawrence, KS to Betty and Julius Mallin, and moved to Kansas City as a child.  Always an entrepreneur, Sandy started working at his parent’s neighborhool grocery store, Mallin Foods, as a young boy.  He continued his endeavors by opening several businesses including Sandy’s Grill, Lenna Lee Products, Kelly’s Kwiki Carwash, and Debra Renee Investments.  Sansy spentthe remainder of his working years buying, selling, and developing commercial real estate.  He live dhis life by this Jewish proverb, "Do not be wise in words-be wife in deeds."  Sandy leaves behind Gene, his wife of 47 years, who loved, cared for, and nurtured Sandy dirng his long illness.  She was a wonderful partner and never left his side.  Survivors include his three devoted daughters and their spouses, Lenna and Rob Levitch, Kelly and Joe Lieberman, and Debbie and Rob Hennecke.  The lights of his eyes were his four grandchildren, Lily, Demi, Mya, and Arlo who referred to him as "their Zaydie".  He is also survived by his three siblings and their spouses, Gloria and Neil Planzer, Nancy and Dan Kohn, and Richard and Dahlia Mallin and many nieces and nephews.  The damily wishes to thank Garden Terrace TLC-2 for their comassion and understanding, and Kansas City Hospice for thei assistance and words of wisdom.
