Sheri C. Adams, 58, Blue Springs, Missouri passed away April 13, 2009 at home, from cancer. Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, April 17, 2009 at First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs, City Union Mission or Kansas City Hospice.Mrs. Adams was born November 23, 1950 in Unionville, MO to Robert D & Jo (Knowles) Crawford. She graduated and has celebrated her 40th reunion from William Christman High School, Independence, MO. Sheri taught mathematics for 31 years from 1972-2003 at Truman High School, Independence, MO. During that time she received a Presidential Award for math education. In 2004, Sheri became a math professor at Avila University, where she worked until her death. She is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs. Sheri is preceded in death by her father, Robert Crawford. Survivors include; husband of 33 years, Chuck Adams, of the home; mother, Jo Crawford, Independence, MO; daughter, Elizabeth Adams, Grain Valley, MO; sister and brother in law, Cindy & Blake West, Overland Park, KS; and nephew, Josh West, Overland Park, KS. I will miss Sheri’s warm smiles, hugs and greetings. She was an early-to-work person and always greeted me when I came in around 7 or 7:30 a.m. Although I had only begun to know Sheri, she was a person who I really liked and enjoyed talking to. I will miss her and send out my heartfelt condolences to those who had the privilege and blessing of knowing her longer than I have. Godspeed, Sheri!
I will miss her. She has been a good friend for a long time. I considered her a role model as well. She was a wonderful teacher and friend. She will be missed by all!
Sherri was an inspirtation and a friend to us all. We will miss her sitting with us each Sunday in the back row. She is with our Lord and Savior and he has gathered another rose for his garden.
It was such a joy getting to know Sheri again while working on our 40th Class Reunion. She was a gentle and loving person. I loved sharing ideas, emails, family stories, and plans with her. She empowered me to be a better person, something I will always treasure and remember. Our prayers and love to Chuck, Beth and family. She was a beautiful spirit.
People who are fortunate are given the opportunity to know someone who they can try to model themselves after. Some would call that person a mentor, or even an ideal, but for me and many of my colleagues, that special person was called Sheri. She showed us the best example of leadership, of educator, of professional and of friend. Her influence on mathematics education in our district, and our state, will be long lasting. We will miss her, but she will remain in our minds and our hearts as that model we aspire to emulate.
My most sincere sympathies to Chuck and Elizabeth. Praise be to God that through our Lord Jesus Christ we will see her again.

I thankfully had the privelege of getting to know Sherri on our reunion committee. She is a lovely person who made me better for witnessing her strength, kindness and joy for life. Untill we all meet again, Sherri. Love, Jan
I had the pleasure of meeting Sheri when we served on a university committee and when she occasionally stopped by in the library. I appreciated her friendliness and will miss her.
It was pure fun working with Sheri on the reunion committe. She had a quick and infectious laugh and was an amazing ” go-to person”. It won’t be the same, without you, Sheri. Somehow, I think you’ll be watching us from above as we get together to plan the next one. Deepest synpathy to Chuck, Beth, Jo, Cindy and all her extended family.
I was fortunate to be one of Sheri’s many, many students at Truman. I took Algebra II from her in, oh, 1980 or so. I loved math, and she encouraged me to continue on in the field. The message stuck, for I eventually earned a minor in Math as well as a PhD in Physics. Later in life it was my great fortune to become a colleague of Sheri when I returned to Truman as a teacher. My first year back I taught 3 sections of Math, and Sheri was my Department Chair. She was also my sounding board when I became frustrated trying to cram algebra down 9th grade throats. More rewarding was our collaboration at the Math Physics Institute. Sheri spent 18 years at MPI teaching college-credit calculus, and she was still there when I joined the staff as a physics instructor. It was comforting to have a familiar face and ally to show me the ropes. When she left, we established a scholarship fund in her name to honor her contributions to the program. I feel privileged to have learnt from and worked with such a fine, warm, intelligent but down-to-Earth woman. She was what every educator should aspire to be. On behalf of her many students and colleagues, I want to thank Sheri for all she did for us.
Best childhood friend, neighbor, classmate, roommate are just a few words to describe what Sheri was to me — a true friend for the past 50 years. More than that, she was a role model and a true inspiration for all of us who knew and loved her. Sheri made a difference in so many ways. Teaching was her passion. Wherever she went, former students approached her to say hello and share their accomplishments.
She was always there for her family, friends, and students, always listening, always understanding, and always knowing just what to say. She was my phone-a-friend…if I had a question, Sheri knew the answer. I will remember the good times forever…peace be with you, Sheri, until we meet again. Love, Cindy
I went to H S with Sheri, and will always remember her as kind. She was certainly a credit to William Chrisman, her family and her professional associates. I am proud to have known her even for a little while. Christ’s blessings to her family at this time.
Sheri was a consumate professional and a great person. We all are better for knowing her and having her as a colleague and friend. I will miss her positive outlook on life and her dedication to students to learn math. She really made a difference to thousands of people. We celebrate her legacy and mourn our loss. I have no doubt that heaven is a better place now and her suffering is over. She will always be remembered by those who had the priviledge to know her and love her.
Sheri was a great person to work with. She was very supportive and professional. She was a great friend and helped me through some tough times.

I worked with Sheri at THS and remember her as a good listener and thoughtful with her solutions to problems. She was great fun on Fridays after school. Miss you, Sheri
Sheri went the extra mile whether it was in teaching, leading a Math Department or maintaining friendships. She didn’t just let life happen to her. Rather she attacked it with a ferocious energy using her God-given talents to their fullest. I will miss her voice, her presence and her graciousness.

Mrs. Adams (then Miss Crawford) was a first year teacher my senior year at Truman. I needed one math credit to graduate and was fortunate enough to have her as my teacher. I remember her as a very nice, easy going person. She will undoubtedly be missed by many. God bless her family.
Sheri and I sat by each other for many years in band during our junior and high school years. We both played the clarinet with enthusiasm and mediocrity. Actually, she was always better than me, but we had so much fun. It was wonderful to see her at the high school reunions and it makes me so sad she is gone. Blessings to all of her family. Janet
