Shirley Ann “Darrah” Thornton, 52, Independence, MO passed away January 15, 2003. Memorial Services will be at New Home Baptist Church 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 19, 2003. Tiffany Center Building, 16021 East 40 Highway, KCMO. Second service will be Monday, January 20, 2003 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at VFW Hall, Post 5789, 316 S. Douglas St., Lee’s Summit, MO. Memorial contributions should be sent in care of New Home Baptist Church: Thornton/Darrah Family, PO Box 1564, Raymore, MO 64083. Mrs. Shirley A. Darrah Thornton was born May 25th, 1950 in Kansas City, MO. She was married 33 years and lived in Lee’s Summit, MO most of her life. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard A. Darrah; mother, Thelma Louise Darrah; sister, Charlene Clark; brother, Ronald Darrah. In the home she is survived by her husband, Steve Thornton; four children, Steven, Mark, Gina, and Sheri Thornton; 10 grandchildren; sister, Sandy Howard; and two brothers, Rick and Mike Darrah.
In the flesh we are sad, and do not understand, but through faith in our Lord and Saviour, we can celebrate the joy and glory that Shirley has reached Heaven and is there waiting. For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 Corinthians 5:1
