Verda Aurig

Verda Marie Aurig, 88, of Pilot Grove, MO entered into eternal rest Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2009 at Pilot Grove Community Church with the Rev. Wayne Colflesh officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in the St. Paul Cemetery in Pilot Grove. She was born April 26, 1921 in Pilot Grove to George and Elsie (McMullin) Deuschle. Verda married Wilbert F. Aurig on September 4, 1940 in Pilot Grove and he preceded her in death in 2002. She and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm in Pilot Grove for over 35 years. Verda was a member of the Pilot Grove Community Church where she was a member of the women’s SOS group and was also a member of the Pilot Grove Senior Center. She is survived by her two daughters; Joyce (Dale) Hagerman of Warrensburg, MO and Jeana (Ken) Bishop of Columbia, MO; two grandchildren, York (Sara) Rehklau of Washington, MO and Rachel (Joe) Kinney of Columbia, MO as well as three great-grandchildren Dustin Steinberg and Caleb Rehklau both of Washington, MO and Ayla Kinney of Columbia. Verda is also preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Earl Deuschle. Memorials are requested to Katy Manor.

    Thinking of you at this time at the loss of your mother. I’m glad I had the opportunity to get to know her, she was so kind to me. My favorite quote from her that I’ll always remember, and should have followed her advice is, “aught not learn that.” What a beautiful woman your mother was. May she rest in peace.

    Judy and I will not be able too attend.
    However, we extend our condulences to my cousins. I knew cousin Verda, but not as much as I wish. Uncle George and Aunt Elsie were impotant to my father Clarence, and to me and my sisters. My grandmother was Louise Deuschle.
