Verne John DeBonis, 63, Lansing, KS passed away January 22, 2010 at home. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the 137th Infantry and 101st Airborne. He earned the National Defense Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star, Parachute Badge, and Army Commendation Medal. Verne loved the USA. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

John was my first cousin with thirteen years separating our ages. The older we both grew, the less I saw him. I loved him dearly! He was a wonderful person. It is so unfortunate that he couldn’t love himself. I’ll miss you and we’ll see each other again one day.
John and I served in Viet Nam with the 2327, 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Div.
He was the best friend I had overseas and after returning to the states.
I wish we’d had more time.
