Vesta I. Baker

Vesta I. Baker, 81, Kansas City, MO, passed away May 21, 2004. She was born on April 26, 1923, to J.L. Scurlock and Bernice Ina Whitchurch-Scurlock in Maysville, MO. After graduating from Cameron High School, she married Virgil Clay Marlatt, bearing a son, David. Later she married Earl Baker in Kansas City, MO. To this marriage was born Janice and Debra. She was preceded in death by both parents and her older brother Donald Scurlock. Surviving are siblings Bill Scurlock and Galene Livingston; husband of 54 years, Earl Baker, of the home; son David Marlatt and wife Kathy; daughter Janice Edwards and husband Harvey; daughter Debra Hodson and husband Bruce; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the library at Sterling Court, 4018 Harvard Lane, KCMO, on Sunday, May 23, 2004, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to North Care Hospice in North Kansas City, MO.
