William David Sheffey, 42, of Overland Park, KS passed away, May 2, 2010 from brain cancer complications. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 6401 Wornall Terrace, Kansas City, MO. Mr. Sheffey was born 6/29/1967 in Abingdon, Virginia. He was a loving husband & father, an active member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and the Kansas City Securities Association, a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and graduate of Viginia Commonwealth University, a Senior Equity Trader at Commerce Trust Company. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia. Survivors include his wife, Janet; daughters Grace and Ella; Father, Robert; brothers: Robert, Charles, John, Randy and their spouses as well as numerous nieces and nephews Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church or Grace Hospice.

I am so sorry to hear of David’s passing. He was one of my very favorite and best math students at the Patterson School in the mid-80’s. I recall watching the movie “Sheffey” with him and some other students at my church. If I remember correctly, “Sheffey” was a circuit riding minister and grandfather of a few generations back in David’s family.
