Alyce Ivan Wilkinson, 74, of Greenwood, Missouri passed away on Monday, May 17th at Lee’s Summit Medical Center, after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held at 10:00am with memorial services at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 19th, 2021 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Mrs. Ivan Wilkinson was born April 16th, 1947 in Norristown, Pennsylvania to Donald and Margaret Sibel. She grew up in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Alyce moved to Marshall, Missouri to attend Missouri Valley College where she obtained her undergraduate degree in Secondary Education. After graduating from college, she was offered and accepted a job teaching Drama and English at Fort Osage High School. She settled in Buckner, Missouri where she raised her two children. Alyce dedicated countless hours, days, and weeks to her students and sponsoring extra-curricular activities. She spent her summers managing the Buckner Youth Club pool or teaching dinner theater at the high school. Alyce retired from teaching after 30 years in 2000.
In 2001, Alyce met Patrick Wilkinson. They were married at Buckner United Methodist Church in March of 2003. They moved to Greenwood, Missouri in 2009. Alyce and Pat became members of Aldersgate United Methodist church where Alyce enjoyed singing in the choir. She also participated in the women’s group, Sunday school, Angel’s Hands knitting group, and book club to name a few. Alyce was calm and serene in her Christian faith. She absolutely loved sewing and knitting. Alyce enjoyed traveling with Pat and spending time with their 11 grandchildren.
Alyce was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Sibel and Margaret (Jones) Sibel, her brother Clyde Sibel and his wife, Sherry (Sibel) Bass, and her father-in-law, George Wilkinson.
Survivors include her husband, Patrick Wilkinson of the home, children, Alexis Swearngin (Jason) of Smithville, Missouri, Alex Ivan (Katrina) of Kansas City, Missouri, Summer Wilkinson of Springdale, Arkansas, Robbie Wilkinson (Erin) of Springdale, Arkansas, Royce Wilkinson (Erin) of St. Joseph, Missouri, and her brother, William Sibel of Jefferson, Vermont. Grandchildren Owen, Mia, Ryker, Landon, Makenzie, Lucy, Sarah, Philip, Hannah, Cooper, and Liam.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Alyce was a dear sister-in-law to Bubba and I and she will be deeply missed.
I am so sorry for your loss Pat … and family. Alyce was a dear sweet and beautiful friend… I am going to miss her so much…at church service, Sunday school class, sewing with her at Angels hands, our breakfasts and lunches together, sharing books we have both enjoyed and our talks. I loved this special lady and she will always hold a special place in my heart.

I have so many fond memories of being Alyce’s neighbor, overnights as her daughter’s friend and as her student at Fort Osage. Alyce you are already greatly missed. Yet we are thankful you have your victory. Pat, Alexis, Alex and rest of the family, my heart aches for you knowing that waves of grief come at unexpected times. May you be strengthened and receive peace and comfort as your wife and mom helps from the other side of the veil. May the times shared together bring about smiles, laughter, and wisdom.
